Help Support our Lobby Fund

Please help MAF maintain our presence in Tallahassee representing LMs and protecting our practice and autonomy. Help work to improve care for all birthing families in FL. Our lobbyists help to monitor legislation that may impact LM practice and navigate state bureaucracies to aid midwives needing licensing assistance, addressing third party payment issues, and  working their contacts to set up meetings on our behalf. In the 2021 session, the lobbyists helped MAF meet with the Department of Health to build support for a MAF amendment that would improve a DOH Bill in the legislature. The original language would have impacted the ability of our schools to be legally recognized; but our amendment insured our MEAC recognized schools and those seeking accreditation will continue to be recognized. Our lobbyists helped shepherd this technical amendment through the committee process. Your annual support of this ongoing work is greatly appreciated.
